THCH appoints Mark Thrasher as its new Board Chair

THCH is delighted to welcome Mark Thrasher as its new Chair. Mark brings over 25 years of experience within the social housing sector, and a wealth of financial, governance and risk management knowledge.
Mark has been an active member of THCH’s Board since 2016. In 2017, Mark was appointed Chair of its Audit Committee and has steered the group’s transition from a G3 governance rating to G1 in 2020. He will step down from this role as he takes up his new position.
Anita Khan, CEO said: “We’re excited to appoint Mark as our new Chair. Mark is passionate about THCH and the social housing sector. He understands our challenges, opportunities and, as an internal appointment, he will provide valuable momentum.
Mark is starting this role at a really important time for the organisation and will help steer us through this period of change. He shares our commitment to improve our services, deliver our building safety works and get better at engaging with our residents.”
As the Executive Finance Director at Aspire Housing, Mark has recently concluded a successful Private Placement for £145m. He’s led on the negotiations to exit a final salary pension scheme and settle the outstanding liability. He has established a revised risk management framework and played a key role retaining Aspire’s G1/V1 regulatory status – the highest award in the sector.
Mark said: “I’m honoured to be appointed as THCH’s new Chair and to be working closely with Anita as we embark on the next chapter of the organisation. I hope that my understanding of THCH, along with my strategic approach, will help to leverage the Board’s expertise and find new opportunities to create meaningful change for our residents.
I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank Faisal Butt, who has been an outstanding interim Chair.”
