How we can support

We’re here to provide practical, personalised help when you need it most. Our services are designed to make your tenancy manageable and your finances less stressful.

We have a dedicated Tenancy Sustainment Officer, Abdul Malik, who can provide some of the support detailed below.

Tenancy and financial support

We offer tailored support to help you stay on top of your responsibilities and finances:

  • Telephone support for guidance and reassurance.
  • Benefit checks to ensure you’re maximising your income and saving on bills.
  • Personalised budgeting advice, including income and spending reviews.
  • Home visits and regular reviews for ongoing support.
  • Signposting to specialised services for additional help when needed.

Financial inclusion services

We’re committed to fairness and equality in financial support. Our Financial Inclusion team can tackle more complex issues such as:

  • Navigating Housing Benefit (HB), Universal Credit (UC), and other deductions or adjustments.
  • Assisting with Disability Living Allowance and related benefits.
  • Helping with Discretionary Housing Payment (DHP) and backdated applications.
  • Representing you in tribunals if needed.

Resident Emergency Grant

If you're facing serious financial difficulties, we may be able to offer support through our Resident Emergency Grant. This grant is designed to help those in crisis, particularly when there are no other immediate sources of financial assistance.

To ensure that this support reaches those who need it most, there are specific eligibility criteria. The grant is intended for residents who are in or at risk of crisis and have no immediate financial support available.

If you think you may qualify, please review the guidance below and complete the Emergency Grant form to apply. We're here to help during times of great need.

Who can apply?

The Resident Emergency Grant can assist with unexpected living costs, such as replacing essential items like white goods (e.g., cooker, fridge/freezer), carpets, some furniture, and emergency expenses like heating or hot water when no other support is available.

Priority is given to the following groups:

  • Residents facing severe financial hardship
  • Those experiencing domestic abuse
  • Families with young children
  • Older residents
  • People with long-term illnesses or disabilities
  • People with mental health needs
  • Households with a pregnant person

Each household can apply for the grant once per year.

What the grant does not cover

Please note that not all applications can be approved. The following will not be eligible for funding:

  • Requests that are not for immediate needs or where other support is available
  • Applications from households with sufficient income or savings
  • Clothing (except in cases like fleeing domestic violence, fire, or flood)
  • Minor repairs that are the landlord's or tenant's responsibility
  • Specialist disability equipment or adaptations (e.g., recliner chairs, wheelchairs)
  • Personal debts (we will refer you to appropriate agencies)
  • Phone costs or related expenses

For any applications outside these guidelines, we will guide you to other sources of help where possible.
