THCH and Hyde Group move towards new community-focused partnership
We’re pleased to share that both the THCH and Hyde Group Boards have approved our new community-focused partnership – ‘THCH: Powered by Hyde’.
The partnership is set to bring stability and opportunity to do more of what residents have said matters: safe and decent homes, great services, strong communities, and a real voice in how things work.
The decision to move forward follows extensive due diligence reviews of both organisations’ finances, governance, and performance. A strong business case was presented, highlighting additional investment into homes and communities over the first three years of the partnership. The Boards also considered feedback from THCH’s resident consultation before giving approval.
THCH residents played a key role in shaping the future of the partnership. A formal consultation was promoted through multiple channels – including regular emails, text messages, letters, leaflets, a video featuring residents and THCH’s CEO, and direct face-to-face engagement through proactive door-knocking—to maximise resident reach.
In total, 249 residents (8%) from 95 residential blocks (50%) shared their thoughts on the proposal. Of those who responded, 68% had a positive or neutral outlook, seeing the partnership as an opportunity to enhance services and invest in their community.
“We’re pleased that our Board and residents see the partnership with Hyde as a positive new chapter for THCH. We have always existed to serve the people of Tower Hamlets, and we understand how important our local roots are to the Borough. With Hyde’s backing, we can stay true to our founding values, while having the resources to make real improvements. As we move forward, we’ll continue to listen to residents to ensure their needs shape the changes we make.” — Anita Khan, THCH CEO
With a shared commitment to creating places people are proud of, the partnership will combine THCH’s community roots and local presence with Hyde’s financial strength and resilience.
We hope to have full board approval for legal completion in April 2025, subject to final due diligence checks, when THCH will join Hyde as a subsidiary. In the meantime, both organisations will continue discussions around integration and service improvements, with a focus on keeping residents informed and involved throughout.
