Staff deliver more essential packages to over 100 residents

Following our successful December 'Give Back' initiative, where we provided essential care bundles to residents in need, we continued our commitment to supporting our community with another round of care packages in February.
This time, we delivered packages to over 100 residents, including 75 families and several vulnerable tenants, ensuring they received much-needed essentials at the start of the year—a particularly challenging time for many households.
With generous contributions from staff and suppliers, the February care packages included a wide range of food, toiletries, toys, and books. Local supermarkets provided boxes for distribution, and our dedicated colleagues came together to pack and organise the items for delivery.
It's been a team effort; everyone's rolled up their sleeves and got stuck in. I'm pleased that we're able to help residents in a really practical way.
Rochelle Welch, Neighbourhood Officer
One tenant at Pritchard House expressed deep gratitude, sharing, “I’m sending a prayer for you,” which reaffirmed the importance of these initiatives.
Addressing Local Needs
Low income continues to be a significant issue in Tower Hamlets. In 2022/23, the child poverty rate was at a staggering 48%, the highest in London and the UK. This shows that households across our borough need more support than ever.
Across four days, our neighbourhood and tenancy support team have hand-delivered packages to homes, with some residents collecting from our offices. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with many residents pleasantly surprised by the variety of items provided.
It's been good to hear residents' feedback on this initiative because, for us, it's about learning what's important to our community and understanding their needs to serve them better.
