Learn to Do More: Tower Hamlets' Resident Training Programme

THCH have partnered with Tower Hamlets Council, to offer the 2024-25 Resident Training Programme - a series of free courses designed to help residents gain practical skills, build confidence, and strengthen their communities.

The programme includes topics such as improving financial wellbeing, enhancing community spaces, or learning to safeguard vulnerable groups.

Some of the courses are even accredited, offering nationally recognised qualifications, making this a fantastic opportunity for personal and professional growth.

Whilst a lot of spaces have already been snapped up, some of the courses still available include:

  • Resident Engagement in Building Safety
  • Running a Successful Residents Association
  • Maximising Your Income and Budgeting
  • Cooking Healthy on a Budget
  • Safeguarding
  • Community Gardening
  • Accounts, Book Keeping & Treasurer Skills
  • Organising and Running an Event

Courses are open to tenants and leaseholders of participating housing providers, including Tower Hamlets Council, EastendHomes, Gateway Housing Association, Notting Hill Genesis, Peabody, Providence Row Housing Association, Spitalfields Housing Association, and THCH.

What Residents Are Saying

Residents who have attended past courses have found them invaluable.

“The free courses are a fantastic way for local residents to gain skills and knowledge: from life skills such as emergency first aid and food hygiene to useful subjects such as fundraising for projects or DIY for those wanting tips to carry out basic repairs in their home.”
 – Atia Begum, leader of 'Our Variety Club' held at our Zander Court Club Room
“The 'Running an Event' course taught me how to organise, program, and work with teams. It has helped me run my sewing class in the Zander Court Club Room.”
– Rahima, THCH resident and Sew n’ Mend group leader
